The Rhombo Hexoshield® Cover System (patent pending), engineered and manufactured by Advanced Water Treatment Technologies, Inc., represents a breakthrough in floating cover technology by combining the superior qualities of Armor Ball® and Hexprotect® systems while eliminating their limitations. Available in two sizes, this innovative hybrid solution was specifically engineered to maximize thermal insulation efficiency in applications where heat retention is paramount.
The system delivers exceptional performance across diverse industrial applications, including municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities, metal processing operations, petrochemical plants, leachate containment systems, airport drainage facilities, and raw water reservoirs. Its versatility extends to addressing multiple challenges: thermal retention, prevention of photosynthetic growth, and wildlife deterrence.
With coverage rates reaching up to 99%, the Rhombo Hexoshield® system creates an unprecedented thermal barrier through its dual-action insulation mechanism. The system leverages both the inherent air retention within each unit and the low thermal conductivity of high-density polyethylene material. The substantial air chambers (4.5 inches in the Hexoshield 66 model and 8.25 inches in the Hexoshield 189 model) significantly reduce heat loss and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions.
The system’s symmetrical hexagonal design ensures complete surface coverage without gaps between elements, resulting in superior evaporation control of up to 99%. The engineered flat surfaces of each Hexoshield® unit enable exceptional stability and maintain tight formation even in challenging wind conditions, while avoiding the stacking and overlapping issues common with alternative thin-edge covers.
A key advantage of the Hexoshield® barrier is its compatibility with operational equipment. The system readily accommodates static structures, moving machinery, and dipping equipment without compromising effectiveness. Individual elements automatically adjust to equipment movement and readily reform around obstacles, making it particularly suitable for clarifiers and other dynamic treatment processes. The cover seamlessly adapts to fluctuating liquid levels, maintaining consistent coverage regardless of surface elevation changes.
The Hexoshield® system serves as an effective deterrent to wildlife intrusion. When deployed to full coverage, the installation creates a surface that waterfowl and other wildlife, including deer, no longer recognize as an accessible water body, thereby eliminating wildlife-related challenges to operation.
Unlike conventional netting solutions, the Hexoshield® system demonstrates superior resilience to winter conditions, requiring no structural support while maintaining resistance to ice and snow damage. Manufactured from premium-grade high-density polyethylene, the system delivers an expected service life of 25 years, providing long-term value and reliability for water treatment facilities.

Reinforced shell
Hexprotect AQUA are manufactured using high density polyethelene sourced from top tiers manufacturers. The thickness of the shell is between 40% and 120% thicket than competitor's products.

Technical specifications
Hexoshield® tiles are made of virgin or recycled, high density polyethylene HDPE (FDA (3) and NSF approved HDPE resins available for special applications). The cover self ballasts, increasing its weight more than 260%, making it suitable for high wind applications. Furthermore, the proprietary features and manufacturing process ensures the cover floats with slightly more than 50% of its shell above water. Compared to other hexagonal tile covers, the Hexposhield® cover is often cheaper to ship and offers improved wind resistance. Installation remains extremely simple, and simply consists of unloading the product directly onto the liquid.
